Scriptural Foundation
Hear, O Israel! The LORD our God, the LORD is one!
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your might.
You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge
against the sons of your people, but you shall love
your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.
By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness:
He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in
the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations,
Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.
By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we
keep His commandments. The one who says, "I have
come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments,
is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever
keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been
perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the
one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk
in the same manner as He walked.
